Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars (PLL) is so far-fetched and unrealistic that it’s impossible to believe with all the incidences that occur in this one town everyone isn't either dead, in jail or locked up in some psych ward. Yet we continue to watch and LOVE IT!
Brief Summary:  PLL is about four teenagers who try to discover what happened to their best friend, Allison  who supposedly died.

I'm still stumped as to why they care since she acted like a royal WITCH with a capital B towards them! She manipulated them, lied to them and was outright rude to them but then again she did help them come out of their shells so I guess all is forgiven. Let's face it, when you’re a teen, girls who seem to have it all together and who appear fearless seem fascinating.

So basically these four girls, as shown above, are tormented by someone who calls themselves A. They are trying to investigate Allison's murder and this person doesn't want them to for reasons unknown to us. For the past few years they have discovered the secret life, or should I say lives, of Allison who apparently lived as she so rudely pleased but in the end paid a price and that's what they discover. This person, who they thought was Allison at first, has forced them to do terrible things since they won’t stop investigating and also because A is sadistic. We finally know who A is, which has to be more than one individual since this person knows every little thing these four do within a matter of seconds. Not possible unless there is more than one person!

As unrealistic and far-fetched as this show is, that's exactly why we like it. Who wants to watch reality? We live it. What I love about this show is that the four main characters are such great actresses, they get to wear the trendiest clothes, walk in five inch heels everyday and always have perfectly manicured nails. How? I wish I dressed like that in high school. It’s like a little teenager soap opera who's parents are hardly ever around. Between getting kidnapped, having flings & romances, getting hurt, locked away, continuously getting their lives threatened it’s a wonder they have time for class. Let's not forget the parties, functions, balls and the haunted little town they go to, Ravenswood but I will save that show for next time. Its fun, entertaining and not to be taken seriously. I hope PLL is around for some time to come.

There are PLL books so check those out if your heart so desires.

Loving Nate by Janice Ross

Book Summary:

Loving Nate is Leah's story of falling in love with Mr. Perfect. Leah falls fast and hard, losing all sense of reasoning. Love can do that to a gal, especially when the guy is as smooth as Nathan Moore. Loving Nate is about Leah's journey of falling in love, when she should have been standing in love.

⭐️⭐️Author’s Note⭐️⭐️

I’ve decided to provide two very different endings to this novella. Have you ever made a decision and wondered whether or not it was the right choice? Or perhaps you made the right choice because you knew that the alternative would’ve been disastrous? This is my gift to readers. Regardless of Leah’s final choice, I wanted readers to be able to reflect on the possibilities.

Daydream's Daughter, Nightmare's Friend by Nonnie Jules

Description:
Maiya was a good girl until someone made her mad.  Living in hell with her mother and stepfather was all but a daily struggle for survival.  When Maiya can’t stand the abuse any longer, she snaps and does the unthinkable.  Will she be able to survive leaving one hell being forced into another?  Will the man she married be able to understand and forgive?

Review:
DDNF is not for anyone under the age of eighteen even though it involves the young. Unfortunately, it deals with a subject that has and still continues to occur, sexual abuse of a child, which is terrible.

Maiya is a young woman that not only had to deal with poverty growing up, but she had to deal with the lack of affection from her alcoholic, mother to her step-father who showed her too much affection by sexually abusing her. This book delves into that cruel reality of abuse and its consequences. It houses revenge, numerous amounts of mistakes involving sexual promiscuity and an abundance of drug abuse. Clearly this is a sad story but a real one as it continues to occur in today's society.

Nonnie Jules does this subject matter justice by keeping it harsh, real, and raw. She pulls you in from beginning to end even though, at times, you want to turn away but you cannot.  Her character and scene descriptions gives you such a clear picture of what is happening which, a lot of it, is hard to take in. Well done, Nonnie Jules, for writing a heart wrenching story that I could not put down. I highly recommend the book!

The Walking Dead

TWD, another amazing episode tonight. So we finally got to see who is matched up with whom. It's an interesting combination of couples and boy are they haggard.

To me, Beth is giving Daryl something to strive for and if it wasn't for her pushing him, he would just exist for now. He has always been introverted but the shock of Hershel's death and the loss of his apocalyptic made family really affected him. Beth's spirited personality is probably what’s keeping him going so thanks Beth.

Tyresse, Mika, Lizzi and the baby, Judith, What a strange combination and if it were not for Carol coming along, I don't think they would have survived, well at least the girls wouldn't have. Tyreese looked so overwhelmed taking care of a baby and two girls that it was almost comical. Now we have to wait and see when Tyreese finds out that Carol killed the woman he loved since Rick never got to explain that to him before the Governor, you know the psycho who killed Hershel, showed up.

Maggie, Sasha and Bob are on the hunt to try and find Glenn, who is still back at the camp. How did that happen? I'm glad though or he would be zombie Glenn. Glenn is the man for plowing through that herd of zombies only to find Tara sitting behind a gate doing nothing! Is he afraid of anything? Like he said, at the end, he may not want her but he needs her especially since he's still ill.

Last weeks episode: Let's not forget Michonne, Rick and Carl. Carl may think he’s all man but he soon realizes that he still needs his daddy. I'm so glad Michonne came to her senses and stopped walking with the dead. She came back to the living and tracked down Rick and Carl. Yay!! Carl, thanks for dumping that can of pudding into the street so Michonne could find it, even if it wasn't intentional.

I guess we will see how or if everybody ends up at this mystery safe haven and I hope so but it seems like, in the end, no place is safe. Tonight Carol was my MVP. Welcome back!

Damaged Girls I by Janice G Ross

Blurb:
Damaged Girls is about ill-fitted relationships and how it affects their families. This is not your typical romance story. Steven Briggs is an older man who only has eyes for younger woman or should I say girls around 16 years of age. He will manipulate any situation to get what he wants and, unfortunately, the women he wants are not wise enough to know better.

Review:
Every so often a book comes along that for some reason effects you emotionally and, for me, this was that book. We can all relate to this book because we know or knew of a girl who was treated so wrongly and/or a man who did the ill treatment, like the characters in this book. Then we ask ourselves, why do people manipulate others and why do others allow themselves to be manipulated. Life is hard enough and these girls made their lives so much harder by staying in unhealthy relationships.

From the first chapter, as narrated my Morgan whom I liked, I needed to know more of what was going to happen next. Off the bat, I did not like Morgan's friend, 35 y/o Steven at all. He sickened me by only wanting little girls who were barely sixteen as he watched and waited until they were legal enough for him to pounce. If he could have had them younger he would have. The two main female characters, Jessica and Jillian are taken on a roller coaster ride of mistreatment under the spell of Steven just to be with him. Jessica, 16, defies her parents and Jillian will take what little crumbs he throws at her since she has gotten too old for him at the ripe old age of 21! This book is about coming of age, misguided love and emotional hardship

Once again Janice G Ross throws caution to the wind by producing a book regarding a subject matter which hits home for a lot of us. The descriptive writings the author chooses is so distinct it’s almost considered unique and the flow of the story keeps the reader engrossed, in such a way, you are finished with the book before you know it. The author has an amazing ability to capture raw emotions and portray them on paper. The book was compelling, emotionally riveting and I highly recommend it!
