Editorial Reviews

"There is no doubt that she soars above the endless parade of independent horror authors to shine as a true star in the darkness. With the brilliant anthology House of Horrors she proves why she is a perennial favorite. To put it simply, this is a great assembly of tales anyone would be proud to have in their collection"
~Joshua Skye

From the Author

I love writing and I particularly enjoy writing horror fiction. I see the world as a dark and dangerous place sometimes. Not all monsters look like monsters. My first marriage is why I write horror. Monster Inside is in this collection. I wrote it on Valentine's Day 2009. It made my day and gave me a definite direction to go in.

The Merchant by VR McCoy review

A mysterious stranger moves to New Orleans during Prohibition and opens a mystical speakeasy called 'The Gates'.

It's a place where all your dreams and desires may come true; where the supernatural mingle with the living. Saints and sinners, gangsters and G-men alike come to party like there’s no tomorrow. But when the morning comes, all bets are off. You may have the time of your life, or experience your worst nightmares. It’s the dawn of jazz in Crescent City, where laws are left to the interpretation of criminals, crooked politicians and the supernatural. All are welcome here, but there’s one rule to follow:

“Operor Non Sentio Vel Exsistio Sentio”
Do not judge, or be judged.

The Gates is a neutral establishment, just like the owner; he doesn’t care about the affairs of men, angels or demons. He's waiting patiently for the apocalypse to end his eternity, but is once again faced with an apocalyptic decision. It could be a chance at redemption, but at what price?

VR McCoy's The Merchant is a supernatural thriller set in Prohibition era New Orleans.

Supernatural Thriller!

I love a great historical fiction that is not afraid to delve into the darker side and explore it. This book most certainly did just that. Mr. Icarus is a mysterious being that deals with supernatural forces head on. The author explains this beings past as he’s taken on supernatural foes from long before bringing us up to New Orleans during the jazz era.

The author has a masterfully way of describing the time’s period to where the readers can envision the moment. Here the era is described in details from the swanky jazz night club, the array of woman, and the wealthy aristocrats to the mobsters. For a brief moment in time his life seems to normalize until someone goes missing then once again Mr. Icarus is forced to deal with the enemy. This book is highly descriptive, intriguing and a wonderful supernatural thriller. I would highly recommend this book.

5 Stars!

Tell us about yourself.

I'm a former auto mechanic turned multi-published author who writes in three different genres: Historical Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, and New Adult Romance.

I love cats, cooking, painting, and watching movies. Those who follow me online quickly come to learn that I'm a little eccentric, but nice.

Where do you like to write?

Ideally, at home in my pajamas with a Red Bull or cup of tea at my side and a purring cat at my feet, but circumstances have forced me to be able to write almost everywhere, whether at the dreaded day job, or while waiting at the doctor's office.

What is your process in creating a story-line or factious worlds? Do you use aides, outlines, etc...?

I usually either start out writing whatever scene prompted the story, or I jot brief notes about my idea. My outlines are pretty rough, usually a few sentences describing key events and notes answering questions about my characters' motivations. I really am trying to get better at outlining.

Who is your favorite character in this particular story and why?

Probably Lenore, the heroine. I empathize with her the most since we both have PTSD, grew up in poverty, and have suffered similar past traumas. Though she copes with all that very differently than I do and it was a delight to see her grow and overcome her issues.

Are you presently working on any other projects?

Yes, right now I am working on the 4th book in my Brides of Prophecy series. My readers have been greatly anticipating certain events that will finally happen in this story and I am having so much fun watching those plots come into play.
