Supernatural novels are soon becoming my favorite reads to get lost in and this thought of mine is strengthened even more thanks to fantastic books such as The Keepers. The Keepers is a YA supernatural novel, and it is incredible! It encompasses everything I love about literature and supernatural stories in particular; it has thrilling action-packed moments, unique and endearing characters as well as flawless literature. All of these things combined make The Keepers a truly sensational novel that needs to be read by everybody!
The Keepers follows the protagonist of the novel, Connor as her life dramatically changes in one moment. Connor is a young woman who has been gifted with supernatural powers but she is not the only one, as other young people have also been gifted. Connor and the five fellow gifted teenagers, embark on a journey to discover their powers as well as their heritage. Along the way, Connor will discover that she has been living a lie and slowly her life unravels around her to reveal the cold, hard truth about herself. Along the way, Connor and the fellow five will make chilling discoveries, discoveries such as inhumans inhabiting the earth and discoveries about somebody evil known only as Ronin. The Keepers is a thrilling, addictive fast-paced novel that will take its readers on a thrilling, sometimes terrifying journey of discovery and let me tell you now book lovers, it makes for an exciting read!
The story of The Keepers is one I adore so much. Firstly, I adore the protagonist of the novel Connor, she is a young, feisty and strong-willed woman who reminds me of a young heroine such as Katniss in The Hunger Games trilogy. Her narrative shines off the page and into the reader’s heart, she is a compelling narrator and her journey makes for an incredibly exciting read. As well as The Keepers having a host of believable characters, it is also full of brilliant plot devices such as twists and turns. Dormaine G, the author of this exceptional novel has managed to flawlessly incorporate twists and turns into her story to excite, shock and surprise her reader. By doing this she ensures that no reader is ever left tired of the story. Instead, she excited the reader continuously throughout her story and this is a sign of a truly talented author.
Dormaine G is an author I adore; she has mastered how to write a YA novel that will appeal to young adults and older adults as she makes her book so widely accessible that every kind of reader will be able to find something they love in the story. Dormaine’s literature throughout astounded me, whenever I would think I knew where the plot was going, she would shock me and keep me on the edge of my seat so thank you Dormaine for writing such a compelling story!
As I am a huge lover of YA supernatural stories, I have no choice but to award this incredible book a dazzling Five Stars! Book lovers, if you adore YA and incredibly well-developed stories then please, read this wonderful book and get lost in an exceptional story; you will not regret it!
