FROM GOTHIC ROMANCE TO DARK HORROR!

I write two kinds of horror: dark horror that holds no bars. It’s dark and frightening. Case in point is Circus of Horrors. That is the darkest, most twisted novel I have written and that’s saying a lot!
Carole Gill’s House of Horrors is a collection of horror storts that were published in anthologies. Please scroll down to see the titles of those anthologies.

My latest novel which has been delayed because of the untimely death of my husband is nearly ready for the editor. Talk about dark? That novel is about The Blood Countess Erzsebat Bathory who didn’t use bath salts but virgin blood instead. Hammer did a great film about her with Ingrid Pitt as Countess Dracula. Bathory was, sadly all too real. I’ll be doing special posts leading up to the publication by Creativia.

Every one of my books is published by them I am happy to say.

I also write dark Gothic Romance and Paranormal Romance with elements of horror in them. I love history and unlike my straight dark horror, This fiction is historically based.

All four novels in the series are comprised in The Blackstone Vampires Omnibus. Complete series for $4.99.

I’m proud of this series and here’s why:

My Review: The Last Resort by Matt Drabble

The Last Resort
By Matt Drabble
Genre: Horror, Thriller

The Paradise Resort is the ultimate in exclusive luxury island resorts, a private haven for only those deemed worthy enough to attend.

Landon Verger is a titan of industry and the founder of Paradise. The resort’s opening weekend should have been a celebration of wealth and excess, but without warning, it has gone silent.

Sam Verger knows his father only too well; the great man casts a long and dark shadow. He also knows that Landon Verger’s enemy list is long and varied, any one of which would love to see his father dead. Sam seeks to employ a professional to investigate the island, and Mac is one such woman.

An ex-military officer, she works dirty jobs and doesn't ask questions if the money's right. With her like-minded team, they travel to Paradise. Mac thought she’d seen everything that death had to offer, but she was wrong. What started out as a simple mission will quickly become the most desperate fight for survival she’s ever faced. There’s only one thing that she’s sure of: not everyone is getting out alive.

Review

I love a good fantasy that covers all the basic elements- great characters, a great plot and drama and this book has all three. Mac is a rough around the edges, take charge female that believes in trustworthiness.  She and her team are set on a mission to investigate a resort but unfortunately things don’t go as plan for them. Zombies run rampant and must be stopped by any means necessary. Fortunately for us it makes for an amazing read.

The plot is strong and the characters are well developed. This book is not for faint-of-heart. It’s a thrilling action packed adventure. This book lives in the heart of horror. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read.

Excerpt
I woke to the sound of strange voices, clinking noises and brightness. I was too groggy to grasp my surroundings but I was alert enough to know that I was strapped down on a flat surface unable to move. A tube was down my throat holding it open, forcing air in to me. It was impossible to speak. I felt movement inside my right leg as someone wearing a mask dug into me.

I thought I was already in hell until someone pulled a skinny, brown parasite the size of a baby garden snake out of me, wiggling for freedom. Some  odd creature grabbed the parasite and threw it into a glass container housing others like it.

Did those come out of me?

This must be a nightmare. This couldn’t be happening. I squirmed in alarm but a syringe filled with clear liquid was pushed into a tube running into my arm, forcing me back to unconsciousness.

I woke up in a bed, an actual bed. Mine? Could all of this have been a nightmare? Attempting to get up, I was forced to accept that this was not a nightmare but my new reality. It wasn’t a familiar room and for some odd reason, I could only see out of my left eye.

“Don’t move. You will make things worse,” said a man to the right of me but I could not see him. He moved to stand next to the bed so I could. It was Ronin.

“I have seen better but you’re not too dire.” He examined me as if I were in a glass showcase.

I was still groggy but I wanted to scream at him for doing this to me. Then I remembered who he was. Royalty. I tried to speak but my throat was sore. My eyes watered from the discomfort.

“Is she awake, sir?” a woman asked, walking in from an adjoining room with a small marble bowl.

“Yes,can you make her better than this?”He gestured towards me.

“If not we will have to dispose of her.”

 Dispose of me?
